TTSReader is a free Windows application that lets you read your computer in any text document or even typing as you type.

You will have at your disposal a voice, male and female, a number of young and old, which, for now, is only available in English.

You can control tone with the controls included in the program. TTSReader is a good choice if you are currently testing speech synthesizers and not sure that any one will go with it.
